The most successful football club in the history of Swiss football, after yet another defeat of the season, goes to B unleashing the protest of its fans
The absurd season of the Grasshoppers, closes in the worst way, forced to leave the field in advance for the second time in six weeks due to the excesses of their fans, disappointed and embittered by the imminent demotion in second division after 70 years.
The most successful club in Switzerland (27 national titles won) was defeated 4-0 against against Lucerna (a result that sanctioned the arithmetic farewell to the top flight), when a large group of supporters started to spread, threatening to invade the camp and force the riot police and administrators to intervene.
The players tried to mediate with the angry fans, except to be warned to hand over shirts and shorts because they are not worthy to wear them (something that some have done, in an attempt to calm the crowd) and return to the locker room.
After a break of about a quarter of an hour, the race was definitively suspended, the result not approved and now it is up to the disciplinary committee of the Swiss league to make a decision.
The most probable solution is the desk defeat, a measure similar to that adopted last March, when the match against Sion was suspended on 2 to 0 for the opponents due to the firing of firecrackers and rockets on the field by the fans.
Defeat that will sanction the relegation to the club’s Challenge League three days in advance (it is last in the standings with 24 points).
