For the thirteenth time, the three great players meet in the semifinals of a slam in the oldest edition ever
11 years have passed since the historic 2008 final and Wimbledon will have the honor of getting back the dream challenge between Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal. This will be the most awaited semifinal of the 133rd edition of the Championships, a semi-final preceded by the less noble one between Novak Djokovic and Spanish Roberto Bautista Agut.
It is the thirteenth time that Roger, Rafa and Nole present themselves simultaneously to the semifinals of a Slam.
The first time it happened in Paris in 2007, while at Wimbledon there is only one precedent, again in 2007. When they met in the semifinals, six times the tournament went to Rafael Nadal (Roland Garros 2007, 2008, 2011, 2012 , 2019 and US Open 2010), three times to Novak Djokovic (Australian Open 2008, US Open 2011 and Australian Open 2012), two to Roger Federer (Wimbledon 2007 and US Open 2008) and once to the fourth wheel (Juan Martin Del Potro , US Open 2009).
The Majorcan conquered 3 Slams (always in Paris) beating both rivals; the first time in 2006 (Nole in the quarter-finals and Roger in the final), then in 2007 and 2008 (again against Nole in the semifinals and Roger in the final). The Serbian instead managed only once (US Open 2011 with Roger beats in the semifinals and Rafa in the final), as well as Del Potro (US Open 2009, Rafa beats in the semifinals and Roger in the final).
Federer has never won a Slam by beating both.
