Nasdaq-listed gambling technology group Scientific Games Corporation (SGC) has secured the lead systems supplier contract for the newly reformed ‘Milli Piyango’ – Turkey’s National Lottery.
The company’s instant win catalogue and Wave retailer terminals have been selected as core systems by the winning joint venture of Italian gambling operator Gruppo Sisal and ‘Şans Dijital’ – the digital division of Turkish multi-media conglomerate Demirören Group.
Undertaking a reform of state-owned gambling assets this August, Turkish authorities confirmed that the ‘Milli Piyango’ 10-year lottery concession would be awarded to the Sisal-Sans joint venture. At the time, SGC had been marked down as the likely systems provider.
Pat McHugh, Executive Vice President and Group Chief Executive, Lottery for Scientific Games, said: “On behalf of all of our teams at Scientific Games, from game creation to innovative and secure products, we are honored by the trust placed in us to meet their growth objectives as the exclusive supplier of retail terminals, a portfolio of instant games and supporting systems for the Turkey National Lottery.”
Starting in 2020, SGC will provide up to 15,000 of its flagship WAVE lottery retailer terminals, delivering provisions for instant ticket validations and access to SGC’s instant games portfolio.
SGC governance has underlined the importance of its latest contract win, which sees the Nasdaq technology group service lottery systems in more than 50 countries acting as the lead supplier to national lottery concessionaries.
Sinan Oktay, Board Member of Şans Dijital, added: “The success of gaming entertainment in any market is led by exciting game content, innovative products and technology. We selected Scientific Games to support our National Lottery operation because we are convinced they are the only company capable of helping us achieve our significant growth objectives in the market, which rely in large part on developing retail engagement and a very substantial instant ticket business.”
