The International Association of Gaming Regulators (IAGR), the body which represents global regulatory stakeholders and actors advancing fair and balanced gambling legislation, has confirmed the appointment of Paul Newson as new President.
IAGR confirms the appointment of Newson as its new leader, following the conclusion of its annual conference held in Jamaica from 30 September to 3 October, which attracted more than 200 global regulatory stakeholders.
An expert in global gaming laws and management of political actors, Newson is a Trustee of the New South Wales ‘Responsible Gambling Fund’.
Furthermore, the executive has led gambling regulatory development and oversight as the former Deputy Secretary of the NSW Board for Liquor, Gaming & Emergency Management and having further served as Chief Executive of Greyhound Racing NSW.
Newson will replace outgoing IAGR President Trude Felde, Senior Advisor at the Norwegian Gaming Authority, who said: “What a year it’s been. I would like to thank the Board and our Secretary for their hard work and commitment over the 12 months.
“To our members, thank you for having the confidence in me to lead as President for the last year. I love engaging with the gaming regulatory community, and I hope to see you all regularly for many years to come.”
Taking on IARG leadership, Newson said: “It’s an honour to be appointed President of the International Association of Gaming Regulators following what’s been a watershed year for the organisation.
“I’m really looking forward to working with our Board of Trustees, members and industry stakeholders to best position IAGR to advance better regulation globally.”
