Genting UK has sanctioned a £1.6 million renovation of its Glasgow Sauchiehall Street casino property, which it is said will see a “complete revamp of one of the city’s most popular gaming venues”.

Work on Genting Casino Glasgow is currently underway with the entity to continue to operate as normal during the refurbishment, as a completion date towards the end of next month is stipulated by the firm.

A complete overhaul of the casino’s gaming facilities is to take place, with an additional, smaller gaming room added to the facility. The extra space will see the casino add a further 20 “top of the range” slot machines and ten electronic gaming terminals to its offering.

In addition, the existing larger gaming area and mahjong room will be given a makeover intended to create a more welcoming environment for guests.

Furthermore, as part of the refurbishment, there will also be a Chinese theme incorporated throughout the facility.

As the venue gets set to boast traditional oriental décor represented by paintings, graphic wallpapers and light fixtures, a number of relaunch event are also planned at Chinese New Year in January 2020.

Food and beverage outlets are to introduce an oriental themed revamp, from furniture and decor to menus, with three karaoke rooms to also be updated in the same Asian-style.

The property will also see the addition of a new city centre meeting room, with general maintenance to also take place throughout Genting Casino Glasgow as external signage and lights get improved.

Iain Gardiner, general manager at Genting Casino Glasgow, stated: “We’re making a significant investment in the Glasgow casino to ensure our customers can enjoy the best gaming experience available.

“We have an extremely strong relationship with the Chinese community in the city and it’s great to acknowledge those links as part of the refurbishment.”
