Leading US daily fantasy sports (DFS) operator DraftKings has moved to expand its operational capacity, opening a Dublin-based hub that will house a reported 30 software engineers.

Chief Technology Officer (CTO) Travis Dunn confirmed to the Irish Times that the Dublin Office would support DraftKings wagering expansion, working closer with its European vendors and helping the US outfit recruit top tech talent.

A busy 2019 has marked a year of wagering expansions for DraftKings, launching its new online and mobile sportsbook services within the regulated states of Indiana, Pennsylvania and West Virginia.

DraftKings US wagering expansion is supported by key European tech incumbents, with Stockholm-listed Kambi Group Plc serving as lead betting systems supplier and Austrian sports technology group Sportradar servicing core sports data and API provisions.

The Dublin tech hub will be led by new recruit Jack Murphy as ‘site lead’, who joined the company in October from travel systems developer Travelport Digital, where he formerly served as Head of Engineering.

To date, DraftKings has maintained a limited European presence, operating a small commercial development office in London, established in 2016 by Chief International Officer Jeffrey Haas.
