Thailand-based esports startup Infofed has secured pre-Series A funding from Japanese gaming media GameWith.
The funding will go towards Infofed’s expansion into the Southeast Asian esports market.
Infoded is a startup based in Thailand which hosts tournaments in its Thailand e-Sports Arena in Bangkok. It also operates the online tournament platform eArena. Its goal is to become the leader in Southeast Asian esports and “make esports happen anywhere, anytime,” which this funding will help to achieve.
Jirayod Theppipit, COO of Infofed discussed the funding in a release: “There is a huge untapped potential for the eSports industry in Southeast Asia and the investment from GameWith will help us to establish a stronghold in this region by creating a proper eSports ecosystem for e-sports lovers.
“Having a leading game company like GameWith as our strategic partner, the roadmap to expand our footprint in Southeast Asia will be made easier and smarter. Following this round, we expect to roll out several eSports collaborations that will enhance our position as an industry leader, as well as create 10,000 industry-related jobs for the digital-savvy generation in this region by 2025.”

Lauched in 2013, GameWith is a Japanese gaming media company that typically focuses on Chinese coverage. Details on the investment it made into Infofed have not been disclosed at the time of writing.
