ONE Championship’s esports subsidiary ONE Esports has announced that it will be hosting the ONE Esports Singapore Major in 2020.

The Dota Pro Circuit Major will be the final tournament of ‘Major’ status in the 2019-2020 season, taking place on June 20-20th. Tournament organiser PGL Esports has been named the official broadcasting partner of the event.
The Major will take place at the Singapore Indoor Stadium with teams competing for the lion’s share of $1 million (£765,219) and to solidify their place at The International 2020.

Silviu Stroie, CEO of PGL discussed the event in a release: “After running the Dota 2 Majors in the Philippines and in Malaysia, it is now time to hold it in Singapore. By partnering with one of the best companies I’ve ever met in Asia, ONE Esports, PGL will aim to deliver again a great Major in Southeast Asia in June. Being the last event of the DPC season, we expect great storylines and matches that will decide the teams attending The International 10 in Stockholm, Sweden.”

Jean Ng, Executive Director Attractions, Entertainment and Tourism Concept Development at Singapore Tourism Board added: “Leading esports events are increasingly becoming a motivation for travel, and we look forward to welcoming all Dota 2 players and fans to Singapore, starting with the World Pro Invitational this December. The Majors are key milestones in the global esports tournament calendar, and we are pleased to host the Singapore Major next June. This will not only profile Singapore as a destination of choice, but augment our ambition to develop Singapore as a premier tourism and esports hub.”

Being the final Major event of the current DPC season, the ONE Esports Singapore Major will be the last tournament before the tenth edition of The International takes place on August 18th-23rd in Stockholm. TI10 will be only the second time the tournament has been hosted in Europe.
