La Liga has announced that it will donate five tons of disinfectant gel to Wuhan, the Chinese city at the epicenter of the Coronavirus epidemic.
On the occasion of Oscar Mayo, director of business development said:
“We wanted to make this symbolic gesture to express and share all our support and courage for the Chinese people, especially that of Wuhan, just like the rest of the other countries currently affected.”
THE WUHAN FC FOOTBALL TEAM AND THE CORONAVIRUS
Wuhan FC, the city’s soccer team, coached by Jose Manuel Gonzalez Lopez, arrived in Spain in January for the pre-season training, but he and the team were unable to return to China.
“The team is eager to return to Wuhan so that, through football, they will be able to do everything they can to recover the spirit and the national union” … these are the declarations of the Spanish coach in strength to the team”.
OTHER SOLIDARITY INITIATIVES
A solidarity movement that also saw other Spanish clubs participate.
Espanyol, a militant team in La Liga, owned by the Chinese group Rastar, has donated 450,000 masks to China, while Real Madrid and Barcelona have shown their support even after the coronavirus outbreak.
The Wuhan FC team took part in Sunday’s Clasico between Madrid and Barcelona at the Bernabeu after being invited by La Liga and Madrid.
