Formula 1 stars will be joined by British cricket duo Ben Stokes and Stuart Broad for this weekend’s virtual GP, while Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc is looking for a third consecutive victory in the Esports championship.
Sunday night’s race, the fourth in the online series in the absence of the F1 2020 season, will take place around Brazil’s iconic Interlagos circuit
Leclerc, winner of the previous two races “in” Australia and China, is one of five current F1 drivers confirmed so far for the event, together with Red Bull’s Alex Albon, as well as Antonio Giovinazzi, George Russell and Nicholas Latifi.
To join the competition, will be the cricket icons Stokes and Broad, which will compete respectively for Red Bull and Toro Rosso (now known as AlphaTauri).
Stokes has already had a taste of the series while Broad will debut this weekend.
Cricket will not be the only sport to appear in F1, in fact the participation of Milan captain Alessio Romagnoli is expected. Other names will be confirmed in the coming days.
